About this fund

The Catalyst for Change Fund backs ambitious ideas with the potential to create lasting change across the Western Bay of Plenty.

It supports innovative, collaborative and long-term initiatives that address complex challenges or unlock significant new opportunities for our communities.

These projects often require people and organisations to work differently, test new approaches and think beyond immediate outcomes. We're prepared to invest where there is a strong opportunity to create meaningful change over time.

What we fund

Transformational initiativesAmbitious projects with the potential to create significant and lasting community impact.

New approachesIdeas that test, develop or scale new ways of responding to complex community challenges.

CollaborationInitiatives that bring organisations, sectors and communities together around a shared opportunity or challenge.

Long-term changeWork designed to address underlying issues and create benefits that extend beyond the initial project.

What we don't fund

Business-as-usual operating costs.
Small standalone projects better suited to another Manawa Trust fund.
Projects already completed or costs already incurred.
Initiatives without a clear pathway to meaningful community impact.
Activities that don't primarily benefit the Western Bay of Plenty.

This fund is for eligible organisations and collaborations working on significant opportunities or challenges that could create long-term benefit for the Western Bay of Plenty.
