About this fund

The Community Facilities Fund invests in the places and spaces that bring people together across the Western Bay of Plenty.

It supports the development, improvement and renewal of community facilities that enable people to connect, participate and belong. From clubrooms and community centres to recreational and cultural spaces, these facilities play an important role in strong, connected communities.

We take a long-term view, supporting facilities that respond to genuine community need and will continue creating benefit well into the future.

What we fund

New community facilitiesThe development of new facilities where there is a clear and demonstrated community need.

Facility improvementsUpgrades and improvements that increase the usefulness, accessibility or capacity of existing facilities.

Major renewalsSignificant work required to ensure important community facilities can continue serving their communities.

What we don't fund

Routine maintenance and minor repairs.
Projects already completed or costs already incurred.
Facilities primarily providing private or commercial benefit.
Projects without demonstrated community need or appropriate planning.
Projects outside the Western Bay of Plenty.
Feasibility studies, initial planning and design work.

Who can apply

This fund is for eligible not-for-profit and community organisations developing or improving facilities that provide significant community benefit within the Western Bay of Plenty.

Facility projects can be complex, so we strongly recommend talking to our funding team early. We can help you understand whether this is the right fund and what you'll need before applying.
